Is yours a Peach or Lemon?
If you’ve set your heart on a new car, it’s possible to quickly check whether you’re getting a dream drive or old rust-bucket. Website PeachorLemon.com is a powerful resource where of scores of drivers compare notes about individual cars, rating their vehicles as peaches (good) or lemons (bad).

How does it work?

To access the database and see drivers’ reviews of their current cars you need to sign up. Just take a few minutes to register your details; you can then rate your own car (if you wish) and search for reviews from other motorists.

Having problems with your current car?

This is also a useful resource when your own car’s gone wrong. If other reviewers are reporting the same problem you have ammunition when they tell you ‘it’s a one off’.

A word of warning.

Finally, do remember to take reviews with a pinch of salt; some unscrupulous companies may be tempted to praise their own cars (or have a go at rivals’).

Is yours a Peach or Lemon?
HERE'S a good idea...a new website called PeachorLemon.com gives punters the chance to rate their used motors themselves, building into a database of real-world ownership experiences. According to members, the top five lemons are the Volkswagen Jetta, Vauxhall Sintra (below left), Peugeot 307, Fiat Brava and Renault Espace. The top five peaches are the Peugeot 205 (below right), Mitsubishi FTO, Mazda MX-5, Honda Jazz and Volvo 850. I'm not too sure about greatness being thrust upon the brittle 205 or the cheesy FTO, but the site is a welcome addition to the world of car criticism. And comments like "It's a good job I'm a mechanic", "This car sucks", or "Stevie Wonder must have designed this engine" will make you smirk.

Completely redesigned and relaunched since we first featured it 2 years ago, Peach or Lemon is a car review site with bells on! This is the place to go to vent your frustration or rave enthusiastically about your choice of wheels. Each car is rated from 1-5 peaches (for winners) or lemons (for losers). The aim is to build up an accurate and independent picture of which vehicles are reliable for years on end, and which ones belong on the scrap heap - Something you can't find out from a test drive or reviews in the motoring press. A highly recommended example of consumer power in action.

Car review website Peach or Lemon has recently enjoyed a visit to the mechanics, showing off funky new bodywork.

The idea of the site is to help you get a better understanding of your car - you can either search through a database of comments from motorists on specific cars or you can post your own review. Cars are rated from one to five peaches for winners or lemons for losers.

Thinking about buying a new motor? There's a wealth of material on the Web about models, but how much of it can you trust? That's what led to www.PeachorLemon.com being set up. Jim Gardner started the site after struggling to get problems on his VW Golf sorted out. 'I said to my son, Kevin, 'let's create a website on car comments', without really thinking where it would end or who would bother to write to us," 'at first, my contribution was the only one but steadily the site has grown. All we want is for consumers to have knowledge and confidence to stop garages from saying those immortal words; 'never heard of that problem, guv'."

Peach or Lemon? How would you rate your motor?
Let the world know about your car by logging onto the aptly named www.PeachorLemon.com - an online consumer car survey where owners get to vent their spleen or rave enthusiastically about their choice of wheels. As well as being able to publish their views, each reviewer gives their car a peach or lemon rating - the more fruit there is, the better or worse the car. Although the site only had 456 reviews when we logged on, it still makes for fascinating, if slightly shocking, reading as you discover the many problems owners have had with their cars. The website promises that no messages can be traced to individual computers meaning contributors won't receive any irritating 'spam' emails. The site is also starting to act as a forum for owners keen to swap info about their cars' problems. No there's a good idea...
